Works really well. My hair collection has grown so much. I might have enough to make a hair friend soon. I shall try on the first full moon.

Let’s cut to the chase. While I like this product and I would recommend it the advertisement is a bunch of bull.
How am I not bald?

I held off reviewing this to see how it worked over the course of a month or so. My first though is, “How are my husband and I not bald?” Seriously, I empty this thing every other day (see nastily graphic photo below) and it is always completely gunked up with hair and goo of all types. I think most of the ick is the Pantene that my husband for his hair, but who knows? I was impressed by the sheer amount of hair and other stuff this thing captured. It was easy to install (unscrew the small metal drain covering, gag at the stuff growing on the underside of said covering, pop the TubShroom in the hole). Yes, it sticks up from the drain about an inch or so. No, that isn’t very pretty, but it’s worth a little unattractiveness for the work it does. Yes, you can still use the drain lever to plug the tub (at least on ours). Yes, clean up is disgusting. Pull it out with a paper towel and clean it off with another one. It’s flexible, so the gunk come off pretty easily. I do occasionally clean it with a little bit of Dawn since the holes goo over.

can’t say enough good things about this product. I have a family of four and would frequently have to snake our shower drain, it appears I won’t be having that problem ever again. I even give my dog baths and this collects the hair. It does not seem to slow down the flow of water down the drain significantly. I’m very impressed having been using around a month. You don’t know how much hair you wash down your drain until you use this!
It was Mr. Hunter, in the dining room, with the TubShroom!

The TubShroom works exactly as advertised. It allows the water to drain, but it catches the hair for easy disposal. There’s only one problem: our cat has decided that it’s his, and he insists on pulling it out of the drain, carrying it out of the tub, and batting it all over the house. He’s done this several times now. I would order another TubShroom just for him to play with, but I suspect he would still insist on pulling the one in the tub.
Some drains need extra help besides the shroom

This product is meant to rest on crosspieces in the drain, at 1/2″ above the lip of the drain. Our crosspiece is one high piece rather than an x, so the shroom teeters on it at 7/8″ above the drain. Some hair probably gets by it, but it does catch a lot of hair that gets past the mesh drain net that I set over the shroom to help prop it upright and catch more hair. The shroom is not as independent and efficient as I thought it would be, but still very good at keeping hair out of my drain.
TubShroom is GOD

The TubShroom is a life changer. To market this simply as a revolutionary bathtub strainer is to degrade the perfection of TubShroom. People often describe their life split into ages, from childhood to college, from marriage to the birth of their children, career growth to retirement. I see my life divided into two distinct periods centered on one singular event: the gloomy, pestilent dark ages before TubShroom, and all the glorious, magnificence days thereafter. No amount of glowing, favorable adjectives will ever do justice to the magnificence of the TubShroom. These are but feeble, limiting words, which by their very nature, cannot capture the richness, splendor and transcendent power that is the TubShroom. In the search for truth, the world’s greatest mathematicians, physicists, and philosophers have all skirted around the wisdom of the TubShroom. In its form perhaps lies the Theory of Everything, a unification of the quantum world with gravitation. The Freemasons, the Illuminati, all secret societies cherish and hold the principles of the TubShroom to the highest honor. The foundational design of the TubShroom seemingly violates the Second Law of Thermodynamics, and causes time to stand still. The TubShroom is embodied enlightenment disguised as a humble implement to avoid bathtub clogs.
Best hair trap I’ve ever used, and I’ve used virtually every style

I used to have to throw out expensive hair traps that sit over top of the drain after only a few weeks because you could never really get them fully clean. The soap scum and whatnot would accumulate in all the little hair-trap holes and no matter how hard you scrubbed, the thing gets cloudy, gunky, stained, and ugly-looking.
Works REALLY good!

This thing-a-ma-jig works so well. I was tired of the old dome type hair catchers that would gunk up and leave you standing in a sludgy mess. I was constantly replacing them or soaking them in bleach to get rid of the mildew and then shoving those plastic hair remover tools down the drain. Then I had to dump something in the drain to dissolve the rest I couldn’t reach. I have very long thick hair and I lose a lot of it. The hair (wet or dry) comes right off the TubShroom and then all it needs is a quick rinse if there is soap buildup. I’m surprised at any negative review of this product. I don’t understand what the big deal is, even if you have to remove the hair from it every few days Who wants that nasty hair and soap buildup in the tub anyway? Not me!. A friend has been staying with me for a few months, she has waist length hair and between the two of us, I’d say we only need to clean it every few days or so. Whoever invented this product is a genius. Love, Love, Love It!
