Add Thermacell to the list of handiest little inventions on Earth. These things do actually work. You will need the butane refills, and the replacement repellent mats. A mat will last about 4 hours. I usually can get about two turkey hunts out of each mat in the spring (since I only turn it on when I am sitting down). The butane cartridge will last around 12 hours.

Our yard backs up to a wooded area, so in the warmer months, mosquitos are pretty bad. I purchased this product and it arrived on time. Once I received it, I found it very easy to put together and operate. It does work, however, it takes a while for the “incense” to really get started. I also think it works best if it is right next to you or if you carry it around with you and don’t believe the range is more than 5 feet IF the “incense” is blowing in your direction. With that having been said, it’s a great alternative to lathering on the bug spray, the soaked repellant pads are easy to change out, and its easy to turn on and off. The butane is also easy to replace. For the price, give it a try. I would recommend it to others

I live in Minnesota, land of over 10,000 lakes and billions of mosquitoes. I’ve used these for over 10 years now and they still work wonderfully. I am an outdoorsman and dont go on any trip without it. Whether it’s fishing or hunting, i use it and IT WORKS. I used this when I hunted my first black bear and the fumes didnt scare it off. Now I always hunt with it and still get big game.

This thing rocks!

So far, I haven’t been bitten while using this, and I’m the one that always gets bitten. I ended up buying the big refill pack since this worked so well this summer. If I wanted to eat outside, I’d start this up a few minutes before I’m ready to eat. By the time I bring my plate out, the mosquitos have moved out of the perimeter. My husband and I can both comfortably be within the working zone, but I’m not sure exactly how far it goes. It works!

An alternative to lotions or spays

Seems to keep those blood suckers away. It gets hot, so if you intend to wear it, you’ll need to buy the holster made for it. Don’t put it down on any finished surface and you can’t cover the vents on the front or the back. It does produce a slight oder and some light smoke (normal).

Never go in the woods without it

i never go in the woods without it anymore if I can help it…and if i accidentally forget it, i quickly notice by how many bites I’m getting…I have to admit, the “hunter’s scent” is obtrusive, I really don’t like it…the original is mild and preferable in every way…and I’m not the first to say it, hopefully they work out the kinks on that sooner or later.
