This looks great and it did what I was hoping it would do, make the shower look a little less boring and it kind of hides the soap scum that is so irritating to try and keep clean. I would recommend having a really sharp exacto blade or utility knife with a fresh blade for precise trimming. Before you start, tape it in place at the top and one side and trim off some of the excess, but leave about 1/2 inch extra at one side and the bottom. You’ll trim that down later. When you spray the soapy solution, don’t do too much, and don’t do too little, about as much as you would if you were cleaning the glass with windex. Get a scraper, not a squeegee, to get the bubbles out. Start at the top and get it lined up just right, it will move around until the soap solution dries a little. Only remove about a foot of the backing at the top while you get it in place. Spray some solution, remove another 2 feet, spray solution, remove 2 more feet, adjusting as you go down. It might help to have someone hold the top in place as you work your way down the glass. When all the bubbles are out, trim the side and bottom. If you put your fingers on it near the edges and push towards the edge, you’ll see it kind of stretch while the solution is still wet. Takes about an hour for it to dry completely. Here is a before and after pic of my shower door.
Easy option for a little privacy
I used this in our guest bath window and laundry window, both turned out great! The laundry window needed an extra 6 inch strip, which I was weary about, but I googled the method of overlapping and slicing and the seam is perfect. The “rocks” don’t line up perfectly if you’re staring at the seam but to an unknowing eye, it’s difficult to notice. I’ve attached pictures of both windows, can you see the seam? I used a shower squeegee, exacto knife, soapy water in a spray bottle and a straight edge ruler. Another hint is using tape to pull the film away from the plastic. Two pieces on one corner and then pull them away from each other. Happy tinting!
Great Product if you take your time. SEE PHOTOS!
Great Product if you take your time. SEE PHOTOS! Lots of bang for the buck! FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS or get someone who is familiar with vinyl graphics or window tint. Make sure to remove the protective film. Cut too big. You can always cut excess off with an X-Acto knife or similar. Use a couple (2) drops of Dawn liquid dish detergent (not with aloe or lotion). Car wash liquid will work too if it doesn’t contain wax. Utilize an old (clean) Windex bottle of MOSTLY WATER & the 2 drops of soap to mist the windows after trimming. Use a vinyl graphics squeegee or Bondo applicator NOT a rigid credit card to remove all the water in a diagonal motion. NOTE: I used pieces of scrap from different materials to decorate my walk-in shower. This can make a nice accent on mirrors too.
It’s a beautiful paper, customer support helps too.
I mean the paper is beautiful and looks nice once it’s applied, but the way it was rolled makes the corners unable to stick no matter how much liquid you apply or pressure. Still works for me, but up close you can see the corners lifting up. I used it on a garage doors windows.
Highly recommend this product for the quality and price
Highly recommend this product for the quality and price. Easy to install. Use a squeegee with a rubber edge. I used a credit card and the hard edges left faint white lines on the frosted sections; only noticeable up close. I also felt it was easier to cut the film to the exact measurements as opposed to cutting it larger and removing the excess after it was installed. It does create privacy. I went out after dark and stood a foot away from window and couldn’t see in even with a lamp, t.v. and ceiling light on. When I put my face right up against the window I could see in a little bit. Mainly, because of the flickering of the t.v. After I receive my curtain my front door will be complete for under $60.
Better than Gila
My previous window film was the typical adhesive type that was a pain in the tuckus. It was thin and often tore even with using lots of liquid and trying to be gentle yet firm enough to smooth out the bubbles. This is soooo much easier. It doesn’t damage easy and the bubbles are easy to remove with a squeegee. It’s a nice .mil thickness too, probably twice as thick as the old stuff I used. The design is textured and looks much higher class than the flat print kind. it does an excellent job providing privacy, but it’s downfall is nighttime. Though not totally see through, you can see enough to distinguish objects and people and even get a pretty good idea of what’s on TV (from Peeping Tom distance). If you want complete night time privacy you’ll need to leave a light on outside the window.
I love this product
I love this product! I have a window near my front door that give everyone a complete view of my living room and I wanted a little privacy without blocking the sun. I did purchase a “rice-paper” look privacy shield from Home Depot and it did make it hard to see through .. but it kept peeling and was not very pretty. I purchased this without much hope of it being better … I was wrong! Not only does this window covering help with keeping my window private … IT IS BEAUTIFUL! I have a neighbor that came over and actually thought my husband installed etched glass .. it is that realistic looking!! I plan to purchase more for my other windows that directly get lots of sun… it deflects the light and makes a beautiful look to my home!
We had an unpleasant view out our platinum window and wanted any covering to look a bit elegant .
Product is easy to put on the window too
Product was cheaper than what you will find at Lowes and Home Depot. Same quality and you get more. Product is easy to put on the window too. Thanks!
Works Great for Bedroom Windows!
I bought two rolls to do two big windows in my bedroom. My bedroom windows face due south and look right into another apartment living room. For months, I didn’t open my curtains because I didn’t want to accidentally flash my neighbors. This film is high quality, thick and easy to cut and apply. I had no problems with the application. One window took me 30 minutes total (cutting and applying). It’s also so much prettier in person! It casts rainbows all over the room when the sun shines through. I’d totally buy this product again.
