Great sand, but beware! It won’t work with intex filters

This sand is of an exceptional quality, it comes dry and perfectly clean. Particle size is extremely uniform and ranges between .45 and .55mm. I would highly recommend it for use in an aquarium. I had bought 150lbs of it for my new 3000gph intex filter only to discover it’s too fine and passes through the slots in the laterals, ending up in the pool. I thought it was a filter problem at first, but then found all parts were in perfect condition. Intex specifies #20 sand between .45 and .85, this sand satisfies the criteria perfectly, but still passes through. I guess intex is to blame. After doing some research on the web I found out that #20 hth brand would work with my filter so I ordered it (it was almost half the price). The grain size of the hth is enormous and a lot less uniform, but worked great in my filter. hope this helps other people who are shopping for sand for their intex filter.

Installed easily. Works just right

The sand went right into the filter. I took off the multiport valve and poured it in. The specific uniformity of the sand was just right, so I didn’t have to remove the old sand

Sand works great, we just needed way more than we bought. Had to run out to a local store and grab a knock off for the extra we needed. We used it for our above ground pool pump/filter.

Nice, but expensive.

Works great… BUT… Too expensive on Amazon. I get it, it’s heavy… Can find this locally for $10 a bag. Unfortunately I realized that AFTER I bought this bag and far too expensive to return.

This product looks so much nicer in the fish tank rather than gravel! It’s also a lot cleaner. Rather then having the mess in the gravel it raises to the top of the sand for easy clean up!

Great for Aquariums

I bought this to use for my aquarium. Definitely worth it. Sand looks great, but the best thing I liked about it was that it was very clean out of the bag (still give it a good rinse) and it doesn’t cloud my water. It sinks very fast so even if you dump it from the top of the tank, it will just go straight down to the bottom of the aquarium. Got about an inch and a half of sand for my 55 gallon and 29 gallon tanks just from this one bag.

Good aquarium sand

Arrived quickly (3 days after purchase). Color looks nice in an aquarium, very natural. Sand requires some rinsing/washing, there were some floating debris mixed in (wood? plastic?). Heavy enough to not be sucked into filter.

Pretty color. Would buy again

Exactly as pictured. I am using this for my fresh water fish tank and I cleaned this sand out really well before adding it to my tank, but the sand was seriously so clean I don’t think all of my rinsing was even necessary. Pretty color. Would buy again.

Follow your manual! Sand works great!

We decided to put an intex sand pump on our pool this year and needed sand for the filter. The manual said to use #20 silica sand so we purchased this hoping it would work well.
