All around great rooting gel
Over the years I have used many different cloning/ rooting hormones including powders, gels, and even honey while rooting cuttings of various vegetables, ornamentals, and woody trees. I have taken detailed notes of success rates with different hormones and from my personal experiences I have had the best luck with the Clonex gel. I am not sure if that is because it is a superior product, or if it is because it is easier to use (but that is really splitting hairs…). Some plants that are very difficult to clone may require a stronger # rooting powder, but for your average needs I have found Clonex to be very reliable.
I love this stuff because I’m too cheap to buy plants …
I love this stuff because I’m too cheap to buy plants from the garden store; I get cuttings free from neighbors and friends and now I don’t waste so many because I get such good success with this stuff.
Hormone Gel For Plant Rooting and Propagation
I bought this because I was doing propagation experiments with (initially) carnivorous plants. I figured the plants could use all the help they could get when trying to grow new roots, and having this rooting hormone was logical.
Blue Dream Fem
I had no issues with my first attempt to clone. I cloned a 30 day old Blue Dream. The photos are after 24 hours. So far… Great!
Worked on Madagascar dragon tree!
I purchased this to root a madagascar dragon tree cutting. They grow very slow so I was trying to speed the process as I wasn’t having any luck rooting it in water. After 2-3 weeks I checked and I can see tons of small lumps where I applied the gel where roots are about to come out! Very happy, as this takes like 3+ months… I used it and applied heavily and then put the cutting in damp soil.
100% success rate using this, Awesome!
I cloned various mints, basil, Thai basil, rosemary, thyme, and vegetable plants and using this along with Root riot plugs, I have had a success rate of 100%. So, well worth it. Awesome product ! My friend who recommended it uses to grow ‘bud’ and he gets 14 out of 15 clones on average to grow. So, is good stuff
Works great. Highly recommended.
My first time cloning was a success and I attribute it to this gel. All clones lived, with about 85% of clones being strong and viable enough for planting. From what I’ve read I was expecting around 20% to not make it, and also culling 20% more from weak growth. Not so with this product. Other green thumbs were shocked as well to hear of my success my first time around. Highly recommend this over powder or other methods if being 100% organic isn’t an issue.
Fairy Dust in a bottle that JUST WORKS!
Like frakkin fairy dust in a bottle. This stuff just WORKS! I bet you could still get a plant to clone even if you used rusty scissors on a plant found in the gutter on skid-row in downtown Los Angeles if you simply put a little dab of CLONEX on it.
I’m loving this! Using the double dip method (GardenSafe Takeroot) makes sure all my cuttings root successfully!
CLONEX is da BEXST! Gel over powder
Make sure to make a bunch of small splices with a razor on the stem of whatever your trying to clone. Look for new growth. A large plant had fallen over during a windstorm, and branches had fallen off. I was able to pick the branches off the ground 5 hours later and spliced the stems, popped em I’m the dirt, and every single one grew to be another plant. I find the gel has a much higher success rate for me than the powder. And you don’t have to deal with worrying about inhaling poisinous powder! Super cool!
