Honda Power Equipment sets a new standard in portable power with the introduction of an all new EU2200i inverter generator. Part of Honda Power Equipment's Super Quiet Series of generators, the new EU2200i lineup is the perfect portable generator for work, home or play. The all-new Honda EU2200i inverter generator offers tremendous value to users, delivering 10 percent more power (200 watts) than the outgoing EU2000i model, the company's most popular portable model for the same price. The heart of the additional power the new generator delivers is the Honda GXR120 engine. With more power, better performance and improved ease of use and maintenance, the all-new Honda EU2200i is the perfect choice for consumers to power what they need for work, home or play. In addition to more wattage, the all-new EU2200i delivers consumers additional user-friendly features including a fuel shut off valve that allows the engine to run with the fuel supply off, helping prevent issues related to stale fuel; a large spout and oil drain gutter for cleaner, easier oil changes; a smooth, light effort recoil; a user-friendly design that incorporates color-coded startup points to start the generator; and increased ventilation that improves airflow resulting in better cooling of key components. Signature required for delivery
Solid improvements over older EU2000i model.
I purchased this at my local small equipment dealer, but thought I would share the differences between the EU2000i and the EU2200i, for those deciding between this model and the EU2000i which is on clearance where still available.
Thoughts from a homeowner looking for back up power
This is the brand new model from Honda replacing the very popular eu 2000. So far the only noticible upgrades I’m seeing are an additional 200 watts of power and a loooong overdue fuel cutoff switch. Other than those two upgrades it seems very similar to the reliable and trusted eu 2000. Since I can’t offer much of a review, I’ll pass along some general observations and tips on generators based on my experience. Again, geared toward homeowners looking for backup power. For the record, I’m not mechanically inclined and what I’ve learned about generators comes mainly from YouTube
Still the best.
Normally I would never buy a new model of Anything until enough time passed that glaring problems would show up. But in this case, the Honda eu2000 models have such a reputation for quality and reliability that I took the risk and purchased the new eu2200. I went though a simple break in procedure (can’t hurt!) And the generator has been performing flawlessly. Very little vibration, low noise, the only part of the generator that gets warm is the vented plastic over the muffler area (I can still place my hand there during operation), and of course the exhaust pipe itself. Is it cheap? No. Is it worth it? Yes, if you need a generator that’s going to last for many years of heavy use.
Love it and I can use it attached via parralel cabels to my EU2000i!
Love the EU2200i. I also have the EU2000i and the improvements (with no price increase) are all significant. More power, mine seems more quiet, and no increase in weight. The best part is that I can connect the EU2200i to my older EU2000i. There seems to be some confuision over whether this is possible so I’ll quote from the EU2200i manual on page 35 on the section titled “Parallel operation with EU2000i”, it says: “An EU2200i may be connect to EU2000i or EU2000i Companion generators with serials numbers EAAJ-2017305 or later or EACT-1000001 or later.
Best Generator Ever, runs my RV AC
Got in my new Honda EU2200i, put the oil in, put the gas in, set the chock on, a few pulls to prime it, turned the unit on, first pull started. No need to prime further on. For long storage, you can set the on off switch to drain gas from carburetor, let it run until stops ready to put away. I had a Coleman Mach3 PS AC unit installed on my RV. It runs fine with this generator. They sell the AC units on Amazon also. Make sure to turn your battery charger off in the RV breaker panel and set your refrigerator to run on gas only. This saves over a 1000 Watts so the 2200 can run your AC with no problem. Very happy camper here.
Excellent product overall. Read full review if for Amateur Radio use. See NOTE! about oil fill size.
Purchased to provide emergency power to Amateur Radio equipment. Discovered that voltage output has more electrical noise than expected, thus the 4 stars instead of 5. This causes radio receiver noise floor to increase about +10 dB compared to when powered from commercial source on some radio operating frequencies (typically on 80m band in my experience) – other frequencies not as affected. This is NOT an RF generated noise (over the air), thus radio Noise Blanker, Noise Reduction circuitry have no effect.
This is what you need
When I purchased this New model Honda EU2200I generator, it had no reviews. I would never purchase anything without reviews, nor would I recommend ANYONE to do so. However, I decided to look at who the seller was. With 4,000 sales and extreamly satisfied customers I decided to take a chance. Turns out the deal was perfect. I received a brand new 2,200 watt Honda generator. Remember to purchase your oil as well, because it won’t come with the generator. Obviously it wont, because it’s a brand new engine.
Can you actually hear it?
Quietest generator I have ever used, and is easy to use! It also has an amazing bearing in the pull start!
