Works really well. My hair collection has grown so much. I might have enough to make a hair friend soon. I shall try on the first full moon.

How am I not bald?

I held off reviewing this to see how it worked over the course of a month or so. My first though is, “How are my husband and I not bald?” Seriously, I empty this thing every other day (see nastily graphic photo below) and it is always completely gunked up with hair and goo of all types. I think most of the ick is the Pantene that my husband for his hair, but who knows? I was impressed by the sheer amount of hair and other stuff this thing captured. It was easy to install (unscrew the small metal drain covering, gag at the stuff growing on the underside of said covering, pop the TubShroom in the hole). Yes, it sticks up from the drain about an inch or so. No, that isn’t very pretty, but it’s worth a little unattractiveness for the work it does. Yes, you can still use the drain lever to plug the tub (at least on ours). Yes, clean up is disgusting. Pull it out with a paper towel and clean it off with another one. It’s flexible, so the gunk come off pretty easily. I do occasionally clean it with a little bit of Dawn since the holes goo over.

Let’s cut to the chase. While I like this product and I would recommend it the advertisement is a bunch of bull.

I have had this item for maybe 10 days. For some reason I envisioned it to be a hard plastic, but as stated, it is a soft, silicone material. This is a nice plus when you think about possibly stubbing your toe on it. As it is, not an issue. Everything is as it appears.

It was Mr. Hunter, in the dining room, with the TubShroom!

The TubShroom works exactly as advertised. It allows the water to drain, but it catches the hair for easy disposal. There’s only one problem: our cat has decided that it’s his, and he insists on pulling it out of the drain, carrying it out of the tub, and batting it all over the house. He’s done this several times now. I would order another TubShroom just for him to play with, but I suspect he would still insist on pulling the one in the tub.

OK, I usually don’t rant about products, but this thing has saved my family! My daughter has very long, curly hair. Every so often, as the water in her shower started to reach her ankles, I would have to get my tools, and start cleaning her drain out. After pulling what can only be described as wet squirrels out of her drain several thousand times over the years, I tried many different drain covers that claimed to be the best. They were just as hard to clean out as the drain, and not very effective. I discovered the TubShroom on an episode of Shark Tank, and dismissed it as a fad. After pulling several more wet squirrels from the shower, I finally decided to pull the trigger and get one. GREATEST. INVENTION. EVER. Easy to clean, easy to install, and it has saved my drain from wet squirrels.

The last hair catcher you’ll ever need.

I backed this project on Kickstarter and it just arrived today. I got the white version. It is by far the best hair catcher. No knotted tangled mess to clean up. Sure it costs more than that $1.50 one Walmart sells, but those are throwaways since you can’t clean them easily. I have a brand new shower with a built in stopper. I unscrewed the stopper and put this in its place. Fits perfectly. The package shows that it does stick up a little (to let hair go down the sides to catch it). If it were flush it wouldn’t catch hair. This is made to last a long time and looks great in the tub.

At first when I bought this I thought it was going to be another as seen on TV thing that seems like it would be good but wasn’t really the best. I was wrong. This is a great drain stopper. For being able to catch the hair before it goes down the drain this is one of the best ones I’ve definitely seen. I saw this scrolling through Facebook kind of laughed when I saw it but so maybe it’s a good idea. I’m sure glad that I bought this. I do find myself having to clean it off at least once every two weeks for sure otherwise the dream starts to act as if it backs up but it’s just because it has done its job and caught my hair before it goes down the drain.

Catches EVERYTHING and easy to clean!

After trying what felt like dozens of hair catchers for our shower drain, I am so sad I didn’t know about this 15 years ago. IT IS AMAZING. The squishiness of the plastic and the height of the “stem” makes it perfect for any drain. We have had ours for months now and it’s it’s just as white as the day it came out of the box, too. Even sitting in an old rusty drain! The only thing you have to be careful of is washing it every so often or mold starts to build up on the inside. It is not only good for human hair, but also pet hair (we have 2 short-haired dogs we wash in the tub). It catches lint too! We bought one for the utility sink in the basement that our washer empties into and it catches all the hair and lint from clothes and keeps the sink from backing up. TubShroom, where have you been all my life?! If I could give this more than 5 stars, I would!!
