I was looking for a deck box to store my grandkids toys on the front porch, so I wanted something attractive looking. I finished this in a variety of stains before assembly to give it a unique look. It has gas shocks which make it very easy to lift the lid and keep it open. No pinched fingers :). It assembled easily enough in about an hours’ time.

Looks much better than the all plastic ones. I plan on sealing it with Thompson’s to make sure it doesn’t rot. I took the advice from another review and stained a few different colors to give it more character. I will update the review after a while to see how long it last out in the weather.

Not quite the same as the old version–

I bought the “last year’s” version of this box (WRDB9922) a year or so ago and was pleasantly surprised at its look and superior functionality (compared to their all-resin ones, of which I have two). So when I needed yet another box I went for this one, assuming that, but for the lid, it was identical. It’s close but with one big difference: The bottom does not fully seal against the wood sides — by design. I could see daylight between the wood and the bottom and noticed a number (10) of approx 0.5 in. holes through the resin that would allow air AND creatures of one sort or another entrance into the box. This may not be a deal-breaker for you (having a little circulation through the box might be a good thing for your situation), but this box full of our cushions resides year-around on our deck and I can think of numerous undesirables that would use these holes as a front door to a perfectly lovely abode. That was one of the primary faults I found with the all-resin versions and what relegated them to storing stuff immune to the attentions of all the little froggies, moths, spiders, and mousies that took up residence at various times in there. My remedy was to shoot a bit of foam into the holes themselves and to run a healthy bead of calk around the inside bottom where wood meets resin. But for that issue, this is a 5-star product.

This is a fantastic storage container. It is well-crafted, easy to assemble, holds a large amount (all of our deck cushions), and is attractive. We have had very heavy rains this week and not one drop of water made it into this deck box.

I cannot speak to longevity yet, but my initial reaction is 2 thumbs up!

Bigger than I thought, pretty, and very sturdy. I am well pleased with the design and execution. I stained the outside before assembly, and the unit went together without any difficulty. The instructions were clear and easy to follow.

because it sucked up my weatherproofing stain like a vaccuum

It took awhile to stain. There is no way this is prestained with anything other than a very light coat of transparent stain, because it sucked up my weatherproofing stain like a vaccuum.

Easy to put together, good fit and finish. Cedar finished on the outside to protect it, unfinished inside to leave that “smell” that keeps bugs away. Makes a great seat too 🙂
