I’ve owned this for one year, and here’s what’s good about it. I’ve owned many stick vacs, and I was pretty loyal to swifter vac….cheap and reliable. However, I wanted one to do my kitchen mats and entry rugs too. This shark vac is great. First off, unlike most cordless vacs, this one you can leave charging 24/7 and it doesn’t ruin the battery. This one has a little “docking station” that the wheels sit on to charge. Takes up almost no space. Second, I have a lab who sheds like crazy, plus 1800 sqft of all tile….I can do the whole house without emptying canister and without running out of charge. The front is low profile and goes under console table, arm chairs, and couch. Thirdly, I can do my kitchen rugs and entry rugs with out sucking them up like my Dyson vac. The shark has two settings for rug and bare floor, you control the setting with your foot. The only reason it gets four instead of five stars is that it’s not as maneuverable as I would like…doesn’t really turn great, but that is by no means a deal breaker in my book. As for the other reviews…I think its important to be realistic about stick vacs. They are not real vacuums and this one will, by no means, handle regular pile carpet or thick wool area rugs. It gets the job done, has been reliable for a year at least, and out of the five stick vacs I’ve purchased over five years….this one is #1.

Surprised and very happy!

Holy cow! We moved into a 3-level home several months ago, and I wanted another vacuum so I didn’t have to carry my Shark Navigator (which I LOVE) up and down the stairs. I had settled on the Shark Rocket, because I figured with the lighter weight it would be good for my wood floors (which covers about half my main floor). But when I saw this, I thought the cordless thing might be great for the stairs, and the great reviews convinced me to buy one. We have 2 dogs and 3 kids, and I could not believe what this little thing picked up. Don’t let the light weight fool you. This picks up A TON of stuff. I have about 3,000 square feet total, and was able to do my whole main floor, stairs, and about half the master bedroom before the charge ran out. It’s awesome on wood floors, plus when I move to a rug, I can hear the roller kick into a higher gear. It doesn’t change to the carpet setting, but it’s like the roller knows you’re on a rug. When you move back to the hard floor, it seems to switch back into the lower gear automatically. Switch it into carpet and it does a great job there, too. On stairs maybe it’s not as easy as a hand held, but it’s very light, and obviously there’s no cord to mess with. Is it as good on carpets as my Navigator? Probably not. But it’s perfect for my quick day-to-day carpet vacuuming, and does a very thorough job on my hard floors. I’m almost embarrassed to show what it picked up, but I’ve attached a picture of what I dumped in my garbage can when I was done! Dog hair galore! If you have a lot of hard floors or need a 2nd “quick” vacuum, this little thing might surprise you.

I love vacuuming! (Did I just say that?)

Yes, I did just say that. Because this is the best vacuum ever. I don’t want to say this vacuum changed my life, because that sounds incredibly pathetic, but it kind of did. I am pretty sure I have vacuumed more in the last month than I have in my entire life. I show it to people when they come to visit and give them demonstrations. Not kidding.

Amazing Vacuum!

I bought this for my mother at Bed, Bath and Beyond. REGULAR PRICE IS $99.99 THERE!!! Use a 20% off coupon and get it for $79.99. I then bought one for myself, an elderly neighbor and my mother-in-law. We ALL love this little vacuum.

I know that sounds dramatic, but it’s true. I’ve owned it for almost two months. I have three shedding dogs, a husband, and a 5 year old. I vacuum my house and within an hour it literally looks like I didn’t vacuum. I love my dogs but the amount of hair is incredible. I have an old Dyson that weighs a ton and when I want to vacuum I have to go and pull it out of the closet, unravel the cord, plug it in and drag it around the house. It is large and clumsy and every time I want to switch from floor to carpet it’s an enormous hassle. All of this was deterring me from vacuuming and the hair and dirt would build up until I HAD to pull out the old beast and take care of it, which was by no means easy or quick.

worth the money

I love this vacuum! It was easy to put together, and is very well made. Sure it’s a bit costly for a cordless vacuum, but definitely worth the money. I’ve had the much cheaper version of Shark cordless vacuums and within a year, they fall apart. Not the Navigator. This vacuum is built to last. I have a long haired dog and the vacuum easily picks up all the pet hair. The best part is it steers like a Dyson. The ‘docking station’ is amazing. Much easier than having to plug a cord into the vacuum itself, and unplugging it when it comes time to use the machine. There are only two things I don’t care for about this vacuum, and their really not even that big of a deal. The on / off button is located on top of the unit, and because of this location when I try to vacuum under my couch, the couch hits the on / off button, and shuts the vacuum off. No big deal, I just have to remember not to push the vacuum that far under the couch. Secondly (and this is just weird), the recharging light is so BRIGHT, it lights up my whole kitchen at night with a eerie blue light. All things considered, I love this vacuum and have already recommended it to all my friend.
