The Original Sound Conditioner first introduced in 1962; now in its 4th generation design. The Dohm-DS Dual-Speed All-Natural White Noise Sound Machine is so effective, it was named "Official Sound Conditioner" of the National Sleep Foundation. Instead of a digital (electronic) recording, it has a built-in fan that creates the sound of rushing air. The Dohm-DS consists of a compact adjustable acoustic housing surrounding a two-speed electric motor with a unique asymmetrical fan. This design allows it to create the soothing sound of rushing air, the Marpac Signature Sound, without the disturbance of actual moving air. This all-natural "white noise" sound has been proven to effectively block noises at a broad range of frequencies, so you can get deep, undisturbed sleep all night long. The Dohm’s two speeds and adjustable tone and volume allow you to control your personal sound environment with the simple twist of a wrist. Choose high or low speed, then twist the cap to increase or decrease the size of the sound hole openings. By adjusting the speed and sound openings, you will customize the volume and tone to find a soothing white noise that's ideal for you. Features an 8' cord, and comes in three color options: white, black and tan.

A great product, even covers most of my obnoxious neighbors’ noise

I’ve had trouble sleeping because of background noise for years. I finally bought this because I live in a duplex and my neighbors are loud and erratic in behavior, arguing and moving furniture around at 3:00 am. I was afraid to even try to sleep at home after several days with little sleep and my roommate made me buy this because I was ready to move out.
KEEP THE LOVIN’ ALIVE!

This is a relationship saver. Let’s say your lover snores. Let’s say, for the sake of this story, that he’s a forty-something handsome guy with a morning beard growth that feels like bee-stingers on your face. Let’s say you love him in the daylight, but when you go to bed, fall asleep and then wake up at four in the morning to what sounds like a LEAF BLOWER IN YOUR BED you pretty much want to divorce him. You lie awake (while he’s happily running power tools through the power of his nose/throat magic) thinking about a nice condo downtown with glass walls, a clean bathroom that no one but you uses, and NO ONE MAKING A RUCKUS IN YOUR BED!
What it is, what it isn’t

I’ve been using my white Dohm-DS for a week now and I love it. But there was a moment when I seriously considered returning it. I’ll say more about that below.
No miracle worker, but a useful tool

The first thing to note is that this manufacturer sells the identical product under two names, SleepMate and SoundScreen. The only difference is the name–having “SleepMate” on the label was deemed a bit awkward for office use. They’re both exactly the same otherwise.
An insomniac speaks

I spent a lot of time comparing sound machines and wondering if this one would work. Was it worth the money? Would it block unwanted sound? I live in a 12-plex condo building, and the stairway everyone uses abuts my bedroom wall. I was constantly being woken up by people going up and down the stairs, voices from neighbors, car engines starting, and everyday life noise. I’m a very light sleeper and I even wondered, before purchasing this, if maybe the sound produced by this white noise machine itself would keep me awake.
