AvoSeedo is a small plastic bowl that features an indentation with a hole in it. A single avocado seed can be inserted with the flat end facing down. Afterwards; AvoSeedo can be placed in a sufficiently large; water-filled pot. Due to its low weight and high displacement; AvoSeedo will remain at the surface all the time; as the water level lowers; AvoSeedo will sink accordingly. With AvoSeedo; you can significantly raise the success rate when it comes to avocado germination. Without any risk; you can decrease the watering intervals drastically. Only from time to time you will have to check the water level of the pot containing AvoSeedo plus avocado seed. Compared to the original toothpick method; there's another advantage: the avocado seed doesn't need to be perforated; reducing the risk of damage (and thus; failed germination efforts). And finally; AvoSeedo features a mounting that can be used to attach small flags. These can be inscribed with the date when germination started; with strain names or with additional information. Thus; you can easily keep track; even when germinating several avocado seeds at the same time.

I was a Kickstarter backer and I couldn’t be happier! I have tried unsuccessfully for years (since I was a preteen and I am now 32!) to get an avocado seed to sprout using the toothpick method. My very first try with the Avoseedo and I have two baby trees to call my own. The picture I attached is about 2 months after I put the seed in the little boat.

Bought this while it was on Kickstarter. I did two seeds at the same time, but the second one was very thick and the top of the seed didn’t crack. The other one, however, was very successful. AvoSeedo is Very easy to handle. I am not a hard core gardener and it was the first time for me trying to grow something from the seed. I always wanted to try growing avocado but didn’t like how messy the whole process looked. AvoSeedo keeps everything clean and organized, looks nice while they are floating in your planter near the window. Well worth buying!

Miniature avocado seed success!

Acquired through KickStarter, I have two AvoSeedo trays. Starting with four seeds from a miniature avocado tree, one seed successfully germinated – notef in the photo. Because the seeds are so small for this variety, I use cork to prevent falling through. As noted on the flag, the seeds were started 8/20/15. There was no sign of life and I almost ditched the project until I noticed that one seed split! A week later, the root was barely visible – but definitely growing. Now four weeks later, the root has a life of its own and a sprout is beginning to form leaves. I’m thrilled! I was told that miniature avos were difficult/ impossible to raise. Now that the first step is a success, I guess I should research what to do next (when to pot, etc.). It may take 5 – 7 years to produce. Therefore, the sooner I start, the sooner we have avos! I’m thrilled with my purchase.

The AvoSeedo is a perfect answer to a problem I didn’t pay much attention too. As most of the other reviewers I purchased mine through the initial Kickstater campaign and am very satisfied with my purchase. At each turn I was expecting to be underwhelmed only to proven wrong. The campaign itself was managed great and the final product much nicer than I thought it would be. I ordered the clear plastic and it came crystal clear. Mine has been in water for a few months now and I see no yellowing or other discoloration occurring. My tree has grown wonderfully and for what it is the execution is perfect. I will definitely be buying more in the future to give to my nieces and nephew.

This is a great way to start an avocado

This is a great way to start an avocado. You still need a container of water to float it in but this works well and makes it easy. Now if I can just not kill my new plant. I received this at a reduced price first my honest review.

I backed the Avoseedo when it was on Kickstarter and think it’s great! My first attempt at getting a seed to germinate failed, but I think it was due to a lack of patience on my part. My second attempt is going well so far. The seed has split down the middle and two little “roots” have come out the bottom. I can’t wait for the flowering plant to come out! I refresh the water the Avoseedo sits in about once a week and keep it on the window sill in my living room. I highly recommend the Avoseedo. Other than changing the water, it is maintenance-free!

Easy to use

I love avocado, and thought about growing my own. Watching the videos about growing your own avocado seems a little bit of work, not to mention, dirty. I didn’t happen to have toothpicks, and don’t want to damage the avocado seed in that way (I know there is no actual damage or lasting problem with toothpick way of growing, but it looks unsightly to me), not to mention, I want something that looks nice in a household setting instead of toothpicked seeds, so I ordered these.

Just a great idea

This is a no brainier purchase if you have any interest in sprouting an avocado seed. It balances fine and looks good sitting in the living room. I would love to see a little less branding but that is my only slight complaint.

Looks nice and works better.

The AvoSeedo is a fine product. It’s much better than the toothpick method as it’s nicer looking and it allows you to see the progress of your seed better. Another benefit is you don’t have to try and find a cup with a small enough opening to work with toothpicks as your seeds roots keep getting longer before you plant it in a pot. Plus it comes with some simple but cute flags that are made for you write the date on to remember when you started the seed. In my case, my first seed took 3 1/2 months to *BEGIN* to germinate. Yep, that long, but that’s nature and being patient is what is needed [especially since it will take 7 years before you will grow an avocado). And at least with the date flag you can know if you have been patient enough (which one of the negative reviews proves they weren’t). So yep, grab one and get started on that 7 year endeavour.
